Early Antique Oak Chest of Drawers

A beautifully timeworn oak chest of drawers, believed to date from the late 17th or early 18th century. Its broad planked top sits above two short and three long drawers, offering generous storage within wonderfully simple proportions.

The framed, panelled sides and back speak to its early construction, while the rich, mellow colour and marks acquired over many years give it a character that cannot be recreated. Brass handles and bracket feet complete the piece.

As you would expect from a chest of this age, it shows wear and evidence of historic repairs and alterations. The handles and feet may be later additions. A handsome, practical antique that would sit especially beautifully in a period home.
