Large Antique Gilt Frame Mirror - Original Aged Glass

A striking antique French giltwood mirror, retaining its original mercury glass, beautifully and naturally distressed with soft foxing, clouding and time-worn markings that give it real depth and character.

The substantial frame is richly decorated with raised rococo-style ornamentation, featuring scrolling foliage, floral cartouches and shell-like detailing, applied over a moulded giltwood base. The gilding has aged to a wonderfully mellow tone, with areas of rubbed back gold leaf revealing the warmth and texture beneath.

The mirror is finished with column-style corner blocks and a decorative inner slip, adding architectural weight and refinement. It retains its original back board, a detail rarely found and a testament to its authenticity and age.
