Antique Vinten Camera Tripod
This Vinten Cine Camera Tripod is a beautiful and rare example of perfect creation still used in modern times. Early 20th century three-legged solid wood and iron camera stand, features adjustable platform base and original fixtures. The warm colour of the wood has a great patina. It is a beautiful object whether the use or simply sculptural relic on it's own.
Vinten company was formally incorporated in 1910, based in Wardour Street in the heart of London's film district, traded as W. Vinten Cinematograph Engineers. At the outbreak of the First World War the company workshops were taken over by the government. Vinten and his skilled team of engineers were invited by Sopwith at Kingston-on-Thames, west London, to work alongside them in their aeroplane factory.
In 1915 Vinten developed the first camera that could be operated while hung over the side of an aircraft. This was the start of a long and close association with the military as well as the film industry. Vinten are still one of the world's premiere manufactures of cameras and tripods.
